    Ruelle.

Ruelle (Ruellia), or dipterakantus (Dipterakantus) belongs to the family Acanthaceae; Plants of this family grows mainly in tropical and subtropical areas of America. The genus includes 250 species: a heat-loving evergreen herbs, subshrubs or shrubs, the distinguishing feature of which are decorative elongated velvety leaves.

    Ruelle

Drooping shoots Ruelle decorate charming large tubular flowers - white with blue stripes, white-purple, pink, dark pink, raspberry pink, dark-crimson or red. In most species of flowering Ruelle held in August-September to December. Ruelle used in the culture room as gorshёchnye and ample plants in winter gardens - as ground cover.

Most often bred species Ruelle with spectacular mosaic oval leaves that have bright veins and stripes in the middle of the sheet:

    - Ruelle Portella (R. portellae) and its hybrids - the upper surface of the leaves a velvety-brown with a white stripe and white midrib, lower - purplish red. Height of about 30 cm

    - Ruelle Devos (R. Devosiana) and its hybrids - their leaves are green on top with a silver pattern on the midrib, bottom - purplish-red.

    - Ruelle pleasant (R. amoena) - her erect stems up to 60 cm with age lodge. Dark green leaves are serrated on the edge; bright red bell-shaped flowers are collected in many-flowered inflorescence. Blooms profusely from February to November.

Ruelle loves a bright place, but does not tolerate direct sunlight; tolerates partial shade. The sunlight it leaves changing color, getting ugly copper otttenok, which drastically reduces their decoration. With a lack of light leaves Ruelle not lose decoration, but shoots too drawn out and bloom worsens. Ruelle grown in a high humidity (70-80%) and temperature - lack of heat stops their growth.

In winter, the optimum temperature of 16-18 degrees (not less than 12 degrees); important to keep the soil warm - avoid "cold feet" (in the cold window sill to enclose under a pot warmer), as in cold waterlogged ground at Ruelle starts rotting roots. Dry air heating batteries in the winter they often twisted leaves and may appear pests, if you do not take care of the maintenance of humidity.

Summer Ruelle requires abundant watering soft water at room temperature and spraying (otherwise the leaves are falling); winter watering and spraying limit. During the period of active growth, it is important not desiccate earthen room, an easy to maintain its humidity. Regular fertilizing Ruelle flower fertilizer low concentration from March to August, twice a month provides a good growth, the beauty of the leaves and profuse flowering.

To obtain a lush branching bush, shoots Ruelle prischipnut recommended once or twice from spring to mid-summer (later nipping delay flowering). Ruelle - very undemanding plant can grow in any mixture of land, but more preferably the following: turf, leaf, humus, peat earth and sand in equal shares. Transplant Ruelle held annually in spring in a flat dish.

In nature lodge shoots Ruelle in contact with the ground are easily rooted in the nodes. Ruelle propagated by cuttings all year round (quickly take root at a temperature above 22 degrees), the spring - seeds. Rooted cuttings are planted in shallow wide pot over a few pieces to give the composition a spectacular volume. With proper care Ruelle relatively resistant to pests and diseases; it can annoy the whitefly.
