    Amazing structurally inflorescence and flowers ehmey depending on the species have a variety of colors - pink, coral, red and gold, red and blue. Aechmea (Aechmea) of the bromeliad family has about 180 species, distributed in Central and South America.

    Ehmei - a perennial epiphytes with a short stem and a large rosette of leaves of various colors hard. Sessile flowers adorn a compact dense inflorescences - paniculate, capitate or spicate. Ehmei grown in pots, and baskets in epiphytic on snags - use to create "epiphytic trees."

    In the indoor horticulture Cultivated as an ornamental foliage and flowering plants following ehmei:

    - Sparkling Aechmea (Ae. Fulgens) - simple species, it remnevidnye leaves green above, below reddish-purple. Blooms in the spring - a loose inflorescence racemose; small red flowers;

    - Striped Aechmea (Ae. Fasciata) - in many countries, this is a popular form of industrial culture. Leaves up to 50 cm long and 5-6 cm wide, light green with a broad cross-section of white-silver stripes, often pink. Inflorescence dense, cone-like, with numerous reddish-pink bracts. The flowers are 3 cm long at first blue, then purple or red.

    The collections are also found florist: ehmeya tailed (Ae. Saudata) ehmeya golostebelnaya (Ae. Nudicaulis), ehmeya Veylbaha (Ae. Weilbachii), ehmeya pritsvetnikovaya (Ae. Bracteata), and others. Derived ehmeya "Fryderyk" without spines on the leaves.

    Ehmei light-requiring (but need to be protected from direct sunlight) and heat-loving - all the year round at a temperature not lower than 18 degrees. Watering is carried out only soft water - from April to October earthen room in the pot should be slightly moist; from November to March, watering is reduced. In the summer on hot days ehmeya watered into the funnel of leaves, but the water in the cup should not be constantly - otherwise leaves will rot. In addition, in the heat ehmeyu often need to spray.

    In spring and summer, 2 times a month to the water ehmei added a complete fertilizer. Aechmea transplanted every 2 years in the loose substrate: the roots of fern and sphagnum (3: 1) or grinded bark with charcoal in equal parts.

    Flowering time ehmei - from May to October, each rosette blooms only once. Lost its decorative inflorescence be deleted, and the outlet faded ehmei more delight - they are beautiful and without flowering, also at intervals at their bases appear "Babes" - wait until the young reach half the height of the outlet of the mother plant (then they will grow faster own), and then carefully separated and is deposited them in a separate pot.

    Flowering time "kids" after otsazhivaniya depends on its size and the correct content of the plant. If the "kids" have become very large, cared for properly, but they still stubbornly refuse to bloom - to stimulate them to bloom with ethylene emitted ripe apples or citrus. Ethylene is a hormone that promotes the formation of flowers of bromeliads - put a pot of Aechmea for two weeks in a transparent plastic bag on the bottom of which lay a few fruits and tie the bag on top of the aroma preservation; 4 months after the procedure in ehmei will flower.

    Podgadat to start flowering ehmei had for spring-summer. Besides micropropagation lateral shoots, ehmei propagated by seeds. Ehmeyu can affect the scale insects, mealybugs and mites root.
